AS9100 CNC machining is not just a quality badge anymore. In early September 2026, AGA Precision Systems announced a second long-term agreement (LTA) to manufacture aerospace and defense components for a Tier 1 firm. That kind of deal is a clear demand signal: primes and Tier 1s want qualified small shops that can hold quality, delivery, and price over years, not one-off POs.
What an LTA usually covers
A long-term agreement formalizes an ongoing supplier relationship. Typical commitments include:
- Precision CNC components for aerospace and defense programs
- Documented quality and delivery performance
- Pricing frameworks that support recurring purchase orders
- Compliance expectations such as ITAR registration and AS9100
For a small manufacturer, that visibility matters. Recurring work is easier to schedule on the machine, staff, and inspect than a scramble of spot buys.
Why AS9100 and build-to-print still win
Defense and aerospace buyers keep asking for the same fundamentals:
- AS9100 quality systems that survive audits
- Build-to-print discipline against drawings and configuration control
- On-time delivery with full traceability
- Capacity that can flex when a program ramps
Whether the part is a flight-control fitting, a structural bracket, or a firearm OEM component, the shop floor habits are similar: print, process, inspect, ship.
